How to tell the difference between Blaster Master and Master Blaster

As the Great Bard once observed, “What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would still smell as sweet.” Fortunately for Shakespeare, he never had to deal with a hulking, dim-witted giant with a midget strapped to its back. Those of us in the modern world, however, might not be so lucky. When asking for things explicitly by name, you have to be careful; this is the Internet. You are constantly a misspelled word away from certain doom.

Why the RoadBlasters car is better than your car

Let’s get a few things straight: first, cars are awesome. This is a fact. But cars, by themselves, are not as awesome as you might expect. As of this writing, my ’94 Buick Century is buried in a foot and a half of snow in the parking lot at work, but I’m not at work. I had to bum a ride home in a Jeep 4×4 or I’d still be there. My car is not awesome. But you know how I could make it a lot more awesome?

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Suckage (Genesis) retrospective

After reading this review of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie on Chocolate Lemon, I decided it might be fun to dig out my own copy of this game to give it a try. It didn’t fair well.

After mashing the B-button for, oh, a minor … Continue Reading

XboxImage via WikipediaIt’s been said that all good things must come to an end. As such, Microsoft has announced that come April 15, 2010 they will be pulling the plug on the Xbox Live service for original Xbox games. That means no more Halo or Halo 2 multiplayer online. Note that the games will still work, you just won’t be able to play them online.

As for why this is happening, Xbox Live general manager, Marc Whitten, provides an … Continue Reading

Jungle Strike (Genesis) retrospective

Nothing sells video games like war; real-world war. These days, we have games like Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 that use the conflicts going on in Iraq and Afghanistan as a backdrop for much of the plot that makes up these games. And while these modern shooters delve into realms so fantastic that the writers behind G.I. Joe would find them ridiculous, it’s worth noting that nothing much has changed — games have always had a fancy for the ludicrous. Enter the Strike series of games. Specifically, the game we’re going to … Continue Reading
