PAX East: Hard crash

PAX East logoThe Sheraton is a nice hotel — expensive, but nice. Unfortunately, free wifi is not one of its many virtues; however, a hot shower with plenty of water pressure is. I almost give it 5 stars for that, but I’m easy to please. So far, I’m hanging out with a good friend of mine. We’ve been through 2 PAXes, and this is his second as an Enforcer. In fact, I’m in a room full of Enforcers. These guys arrive early and build everything you see. They help … Continue Reading

Like it was 1980: First impressions of Game Room on the Xbox 360

Microsoft's Game RoomFirst, let me start by saying that I don’t condone piracy, but when it comes to classic arcade games, you’re kind of stuck. Unless someone snatches up the rights to produce a version of your favorite game for your favorite platform, there’s nothing you can do about replaying that forgotten favorite. Sure, you could spend hundreds of dollars fixing up a vintage cabinet, but who has the money or space for all that? Are you Ricky Stratton? 5 Good Reasons Shutting Down Xbox Live Classic Is A Bad Idea

After reading the excellently written piece by Jason Trent on why shutting down Xbox Live support for original Xbox titles will benefit users, I had to come up with a rebuttal piece. Trent makes some very good points, and I can certainly get behind Microsoft’s decision to improve the service. Unfortunately, I just really like to argue with people. Here are 5 good reasons why shutting down Xbox Live classic is a bad idea.

5. People still play Halo 2
Perhaps not many, but there are people who still prefer it over Halo 3. According to Bungie.net, as of this … Continue Reading

Microsoft to shut down Xbox Live servers for classic Xbox games

XboxImage via WikipediaIt’s been said that all good things must come to an end. As such, Microsoft has announced that come April 15, 2010 they will be pulling the plug on the Xbox Live service for original Xbox games. That means no more Halo or Halo 2 multiplayer online. Note that the games will still work, you just won’t be able to play them online.

As for why this is happening, Xbox Live general manager, Marc Whitten, provides an … Continue Reading
